Highland Sojourn ~ Day 2: London to Inverness to Forres

Captain’s Log — Arrival in the Highlands

Landed at Heathrow about 10 AM and made my way over to the gate for the Inverness flight. By 11:45 I was settled in and ready to head north. We touched down in Inverness around 2 PM.

Stepped out to the kind of weather you expect up here—overcast, cool, and a little breeze coming off the North Sea. Felt about right for salmon country.

Picked up the rental car from Sixt and made the short drive over to Forres. Checked into the Ramnee Hotel around 4 o’clock. The room suits a wandering fisherman just fine—nothing fancy, but comfortable and warm.

Had supper down in the hotel restaurant and bar, then took a quick run over to Tesco to gather a few supplies for the coming days on the river. Picked up some cured meats, cheese, and a handful of nuts—good honest streamside lunch material.

Before turning in I took a little drive up the hill to Forres Golf Club, which sits northeast of town. I recognized it from one of the Average Golfer YouTube episodes. Looks like a proper little course. Might sneak in a round on one of the off days if the weather and fishing cooperate.

Back to the hotel after that and called it a day. Turned in around nine.

Tomorrow I will meet Ian and David at 9 AM, we go looking for salmon.
