Getting GUSTO: Day 1 ~ Twin Lakes to Tacoma
Up at 4:30 this morning after turning in early last night. Pointed the truck west on Interstate 90 and made the five-hour run into Tacoma, arriving around 11 AM. Rain and gray skies most of the way, but that felt fitting for our first look at the boat in true Pacific Northwest fashion.
Met up with Conner from Ranger Tugs and finally got to see our Ranger Tug in person for the first time. After all the planning and waiting, it was a pretty special moment standing there looking at her tied up at the dock. Spent the next couple of hours going through systems training and getting familiar with the boat.
Afterward we made our way to Wally’s Chowder House & Broiler for lunch. Salmon, halibut and chips, and garlic bread hit the spot after the long drive.
Later in the afternoon we checked into Cedarbrook Lodge near the airport. Very comfortable place tucked back among the trees and water features. Planning to lay low the rest of the evening and get rested up for tomorrow’s sea trial.
